New drilling process for offshore foundations
In partnership with Herrenknecht AG, HOCHTIEF Solutions has developed a more efficient and, most of all, more environmentally friendly way
of emplacing wind turbine foundations. In our technique, called offshore foundation drilling, foundation structures for wind turbines are
anchored to the sea floor by a drilling process. This reduces noise. The resulting underwater noise pressure can seriously harm marine fauna,
especially harbor porpoises in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea. Because the method is highly adaptable, offshore foundation drilling
also opens up various other technical options, such as pile diameters bigger than the six meters that mark the limit for conventional pile
driving.
