HOCHTIEF Construction Scandinavia
HOCHTIEF Construction AG has been operating successfully in Scandinavia for many
years now. A major highlight was the construction of the 16.4-kilometer Öresund
Bridge which, completed in 2000, links the cities of Copenhagen and Malmö. In
the early 1990s, HOCHTIEF Construction once more operating in a joint
venture already was responsible for building the Eastern Bridge over the Great
Belt
Seven kilometers off the Swedish coast, within eyeshot of the Öresund Bridge, is the Lillgrund offshore wind farm. In 2006 and 2007, HOCHTIEF Construction precision-placed the heavy foundations for 48 wind plants in the sea. The plants generate power for some 60,000 Swedish households.
To be more visible in the Scandinavian market, we set up a business office in Sweden in 2007. Its activities focus on the acquisition of large infrastructure projects. Most projects were realized by our competence centers for tunneling, harbor construction and marine works, in cooperation with local partners.
In 2005, we started building an approximately four-kilometer-long district
heating tunnel in Copenhagen in a joint venture with MT Højgaard. The tunnel
will be handed over to Københavns Energi in 2009.
Another project in progress is the "Norra Länken" bypass north of Stockholm
where we are responsible for two construction lots together with our Swedish
partner Oden. Here, we are building two double-lane 1.2-kilometer tunnels and an
approximately 2-kilometer-long road section including ramps and turnoffs. The
project represents a contract volume of some EUR 130 million and will be
completed in 2012.
