Berlin-Brandenburg

HOCHTIEF has been operating an independent business unit in Berlin since 1912, and has thus played a major role in shaping the face of this world-class city. Today, the Berlin office coordinates building construction projects in the German capital and the states of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-West Pomerania.

The business unit has managed several pioneering new projects in Berlin following German reunification, including the Sony Center, the Parkkolonnaden at Potsdamer Platz, new embassies for Israel, Brazil, and Mexico, the new German Foreign Office, and the Spandau Arcaden and Wilmersdorfer Arcaden shopping malls.

HOCHTIEF Construction also set new standards for the revitalization of old properties in Berlin, whereby we not only protected the buildings in question from decay but also frequently developed and implemented completely new concepts for their use. Examples here include the former GDR Council of State building, which now houses a management school, and the new Opern Careé, which was formerly a Dresdner Bank building.
